Noles In Full Pads

The seminoles had their first practice in full pads Monday. If you are not already fired up for the season then now is the time to start, pads are on and some crunching is sure to follow. Jimbo is emphasizing safety and looking to minimize injuries in practices, but that won't keep the defense from laying out some hits. It's just natural for the young talent to try to show off and the veterans to put them in their place. The next two weeks of practice should start to show some evidence of how the offense and defense are shaping up. The Noles are coming off an ACC championshhip in baseball and are hoping to grab another this year in football depsit the hype around Miami and high ranked Virginia Tech.

FSU Linebackers : Who's Crackin' Backs This Year ?

The Noles will look to the middle of their defense this year for leadership and direction. All 3 spots look to be filled by either Juniors or Seniors.

Kendall Smith plays the middle linebacker spot and is coming off a very good season last year. Smith had 85 tackles last year and 7 of them came at a loss.

Nigel Bradham led the Noles with 93 tackles last season and can be a beast of a player. Bradham had over 45 tackles in his last 5 game games. Bradham plays weakside linebacker.

Strongside Linebacker has been a battle during spring between Junior Nigel Carr and Mister Alexander who is a redshirt sophomore. Alexander had 5 sacks and 6 tackles for a loss last year splitting time with Carr. If Mister Alexander continues to improve he will get the primary spot, but will still share time with Carr.

FSU has an incredible linebacker recruiting class which includes a few new standouts who may make an impact very soon. Vince Williams, Jeff Luc, Christian Jones, Telvin Smith, Nigel Terrell and Holmes Onwukaife are just some of the young talent the Noles have to work with.

The Linebacker positions are deep for FSU and this should provide good stability up the middle.

Who To Look For On The Defensive Line

The Defense looks to be pretty good this year. There are many players who should improve and somenew additions that look promising.

Defensive Line
Markus White is a senior who has steadily improved and should be very good for the Noles this year. Brandon Jenkins had 3 sacks in the spring season game and has shown improvement catching the eye of the coaching staff. Keep an eye on Jenkins this year. Jacobbi McDaniel is a strong interior lineman who should return even stronger. Anthony Mcloud will need to prove himself as highly touted redshirt sophomore, the coaching staff has high hopes for Mcloud.

FSU Looking To Place Ponder In Heisman Limelight

CP7forheisman.com

That is the website for Christian Ponder's promotional campaign for the Heisman. It was launched by Florida State University two weeks ago. The website is slick and flashy aiming to give you all you could love about Ponder.

This year will certainly be a test for Ponder as the departure of Bobby Bowden and the promotion of Jimbo Fisher brings new light into a well established program. Ponder will need to lead the team by focusing in on and demonstrating his strengths early in the season. FSU remains talented and while some of the pieces may feel scattered, there are many assets on this year's team to utilize.
